Gold Drift Weeping Norway Spruce has bright golden needles. It has a similar growth habit to ‘Pendula’, in that it completely depends on how it is staked and trained. Staking the central leader results in an upright tree with pendulous branches, if allowed to grow untrained, this results in a cascading ground-cover. This tree stuns with its textured form, but the golden foliage makes it truly stand out.

These may be a few of the reasons it won ‘Conifer of the Year’ in 2013. The gold will be brightest in some sun, but it is recommended to protect it from harsh afternoon sun. Gold Drift Weeping Norway Spruce is an easy addition of unique shape and texture to any landscape.

Gold Drift Weeping Norway Spruce Planting/Care Instructions

Before planting, have your soil tested to see what amendments are needed. Click this link to check your frost dates: Frost Dates. Check the light preferences for your plant and choose your location accordingly.

When you receive your Gold Drift Weeping Norway Spruce, soak the root ball in water for 20 minutes upon arrival before planting or potting. Gently break up the root ball. This will help the roots of your Gold Drift Weeping Norway Spruce to grow out into the soil. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball of your plant. Fill in the hole tightly with soil to avoid any air pockets.

Add a bit of slow-release fertilizer to help new plants to grow quickly. Add the recommended amount per fertilizer instructions. Be sure to water your Gold Drift Weeping Norway Spruce until it is established. In addition, pull weeds out when they appear. They take nutrients from the soil.
